I was registered Unaffiliated 42 years, my entire voting life. But I understand that if you want to be heard; if you want the opportunity to elected office in Maryland’s political environment where you do real good for the good of the people, you have to align with the party you most identify with. For me that’s the Democratic Party.

My independence was, and still is, rooted in my core belief that you cannot serve the people and the Party at the same time. ‘Party” interests should never come before the interests of the people.
